TEAM GB MAKE AN EARLY SPLASH!

The Great Britain Special Olympics squad has picked up its first medals at the Shanghai World Games with silver in the pool in the womens’ 4 x 50m freestyle relay and a silver in the 800m freestyle.

The relay team comprised of Laura Jervis (Northwich), Sarah Paschaud (London), Zoe Kane (Peterhead) and Ionutsa McClelland (Dingwall). Zoe also collected a silver in the individual event on Friday.

Aquatics Head Coach Linda Shaw commented: “Words can’t express how pleased we are. This is a great start and we are confident that more medals will follow over the next few days!”

A total of 159 athletes with learning disabilities are competing for Great Britain in the Games. Over 7000 athletes from 160 nations make up what is the largest sporting event of 2007
