John Grady: Head Coach, Gymnastics
John is a retired head of a special school. He started the Mont a l'Abbe Special Gym Club for pupils at the school. It is now an independent club.
John began coaching when the club started in 1991. His first involvement with Special Olympics was in 1994 when the club competed at a national competition in the South West. Since then his members have become more and more involved in Special Olympics as the club has developed and its gymnasts have achieved increasing success on the mainland.
John was assistant coach to the Special Olympics GB squad in the 1999 World Games. He gave up his position as Head Coach to the British Gymnastics Disabilities Squad when he was appointed as Head Coach of the Special Olympics GB Squad for Shanghai.
