Phab katie aiming for glory
KATIE SMITH is on course to represent her country at the Special Olympic Games in China.
And her efforts to get there and the sterling work she does for Phab, a charity which brings together people with and without disabilities, saw her nominated for an award.
Phab is now 50 years old and to mark the birthday a celebration for local members and supporters was held at the Hilton Hotel in Walsgrave, Coventry.
Katie, who has Down's syndrome, is secretary of the Kenilworth branch of Phab, and works in catering for Remploy.
She has organised first-aid evenings and fundraising events and is due to represent her country in canoeing at the games in Shanghai in October.
